So....today is prom! Honestly, I really don't want to go, but obviously I have to because I have a date and what not. Also, if I didn't go people would think I was crazy.  I had to ask my date because no one asked me, and he goes to another school so I'm scared it'll be a bit awkward.  Anyways, when I go to the hair place today I'll make sure to take a picture of what it looks like, and there will for sure be photos later.  Sorry I haven't been posting too much lately, these lasts weeks up until graduation are for sure stressful and I don't even have time for sleep, let alone blogging.

Realization

Lately, I have been extremely fed up with my peers.  I honestly feel like I am past my age.  I am so tired of all the boys.  They are all jerks and they are so immature.  I feel like eighteen year olds should be able to look past all of the stupid things in life and focus on the more important ones.  For example, boys who go to my prep school only like the extremely pretty, skinny, and "perfect seeming" girls.  That's a joke.  They will probably end up gaining a million pounds in college and then those guys will turn to girls like me, hopefully. One of my favorite sayings is, "Boys only reach for the apples (girls) at the bottom of the tree because they're easiest to get, but these apples are the rotten ones that birds have fed on. The reason they don't go for the apples (girls) at the top of the tree is because they are too hard to get." I know that isn't the exact saying, but it's what came from my memory, haha. This post is just me ranting I guess, but I can't wait until college where hopefully I will find a mature, cute, and fun boy that I can spend the rest of my life with! Yay for cheesy posts!

Charming Charlies

Hey guys! So today my friend and I were at the mall, and we came upon the store Charming Charlies! Although I've seen it many times, I've never gone in! What a surprise I had when I saw the cutest stuff EVER! The whole store was in sections by color, so they had an area with all pink stuff, all green stuff, all blue stuff, etc.  They have every color you can think of! I immediately went over to the pink, green, and yellow sections! The stuff also was not very expensive at all! Here is all the stuff I got: 

This green and gold bracelet.  It was only around $12!

This cute little clutch was only around $25! It is perfect for spring and summer!

This cute pink and straw clutch with the adorable bow was only $30!

This headband was around $20!

I'm not sure if Charming Charlies is big in other parts of the United States, but it definitely gets my vote and I'm excited to go back!

My Weekend in Photos!

Hey y'all! So I was planning on doing a whole other type of post today, but I came home from school and headed straight for my bed! Remind me next time that studying all night for a history test is very tiring haha! I just woke up and in a little bit I have to head to my workout class! So here is my weekend in photos!

Thank Goodness for This!

Hey y'all! So if any of you guys have ever done the whole sorority thing, you would know how stressful it is getting everything together for rush! I am a senior, and I never in my wildest dreams thought that it would be this stressful.  I've spent the last few days writing handwritten thank you notes, delivering packets, and contacting ladies for recommendations! I never could have ever done this without... Rush Prep.  The woman who runs it, Katy Restrepo, is so sweet and customizes everything for you! All you have to do is fill out the form on her website, and your packet arrives just days later! You just have to send her the check int he mail! The packets are so cute too!  Thank goodness for this....

Healthy and Fun Lunch!

Hey guys! I hope y'all are having a good Friday the 13th haha! I stayed home from school today (senioritis) and I decided to make myself a fun lunch! I'm just gonna tell y'all how to make it!

So first, I got some wheat pita and I cut it in half. Then I put it in the toaster! Toast it however long you want!

Then, get an avocado and put it into a bowl. I used a pretty large one!  Mash up the avocado (I used a spoon) and then add some lemon!  I also like to add onions, salt, and pepper!

Then get some turkey and cut it into small pieces.

Once the pita is toasted, put the turkey inside.

Then add some of the guacamole!

I used the rest of the guacamole and put it on a cute plate with some pita chips!

I also put some spinach leaves with salt, pepper, lemon, and a tiny bit of olive oil on the side. My drink is crystal light!

My New Favorite Place for Monograms!

If you love monogramming, I suggest you head on over to www.lipstickshades.com!! It is absolutely amazing! I had been wanting an otter box phone case for my iPhone, but I wanted my monogram on my phone case. I finally found this website and I was so excited! It only took a week to get it!

I also went on and ordered a new laptop sleeve. It came in less than a week, and it's so cute!

Keeping Myself Accountable

Hi guys! This is a bit of a different type of post! I've been trying to diet for a while, and I just keep saying "I'll do it tomorrow." Since college is coming up, I really need to get in shape! I decided if I told y'all that I was on a diet, I would maybe keep up with it! I'll let you guys know how I'm doing and maybe post fun, healthy recipes and workouts! I've been really into workout out lately, I just haven't kept up with the dieting side of it.  

I hope you guys are having a fabulous Tuesday! I have so much to do! I need to go shopping later to find an outfit to wear for my sorority pictures that I'm taking tomorrow! What did y'all wear in your sorority photos?

Type 1 Diabetes...And Ways to Deal With It!

Hey guys! As you may or may not know, I have type 1, or juvenile, diabetes.  I was diagnosed in November of 2005.  It's crazy that I've had this disease for almost 7 years.  Part of this blog post will be about what type 1 diabetes actually is (I find that a lot of people are clueless when it comes to this) and the second part will be about cute and fun ways to deal with such a life-threatening and annoying disease!

Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas stops making insulin.  The exact causes are not really known, but all of the cells that make insulin die.  We need insulin to live.  Insulin breaks down sugar into energy.  Obviously, if the sugar isn't broken down, there will be an excess of sugar in your blood.  This causes you to be extremely tired and can make you feel very sick.  Your body then has to turn fat and muscle into energy, which is really bad for your body. Ultimately, you die after a prolonged period with high or low blood sugar.  Too much inulin causes low blood sugar, in which case you would need to eat sugar to get your blood sugar back up to normal.  Type 1 diabetes is extremely different from type 2 diabetes, which is much more common.  One can get type 2 if they are overweight or if they eat a lot of sugar.  The body comes resistant to the insulin because of all the sugar intake, causing the insulin to not work very well.  

To control my diabetes, I wear an Omnipod, which looks like this. 

It gives me insulin whenever I tell it to, using a little device that looks like a phone.  I also have to prick my finger at least 10 times a day to make sure my blood sugar is on track.  It can be hard, but we are working on finding a cure.  Hopefully I can see it in my lifetime! 

Now for all of my diabetic readers out there, I want to share with you the ways in which I kind of keep diabetes fun! (if that is even possible) 

First, I keep my all of my supplies in this cute little case by Kate Spade! It's navy with little green hedge hogs on it and every time I see it, it makes me happy!

I also try to find fun diabetic cook books so that I can try some healthy, low glycemic recipes! One of my favorites is the: Betty Crocker's Diabetes Cookbook! The recipes are so tasty!

Lastly, I exercise A LOT! I find that when I exercise, I have to take less insulin.  The less insulin I take, the better I feel! It is really important to stay active! Remember, it may not seem like you are harming your body now by not taking care of yourself, but the results of your actions now will show in 20 years! Complications of diabetes include: limb amputations, blindness, kidney failure, heart disease, etc! You don't want that! Please take care of yourselves!

Handwriting

I cannot stress enough how important ones handwriting is in the giant scheme of things.  If you send someone a thank you note, a letter, or if you are applying for a job, you need to have good penmanship.  No one wants to be trying to figure out what you are trying to say because they can't read your handwriting. This post is short and sweet because I am extremely busy today, but PLEASE, if you don't have good handwriting, work on it!

Do y'all love sending cute greeting cards and letters as much as I do? If you do, I highly suggest you get the app called "Red Stamp!"

You can e-mail and text people cute greeting cards directly from your iPhone! You can even change the color scheme of the cards and add your own personal photos! It's really fun! When I want to invite people over for something, now all I do is create a fun invite and send it to them! It's cute and fun!
